DATES

Date fruit is one of the highest quality tropical fruits cultivated at special weather condition in the world. Iran because of having diversity in weather situation has been successful in date cultivation and cultivates most kinds of dates in 13 of its 31 provinces. In fact Most of Iran’s dates are cultivated in the southern belt of the country. Kerman, Sistan Baluchestan, Khuzestan, Bushehr, Fars and Hormozgan are the biggest date-producing provinces in Iran.
All dates are rich source of high nutrient, minerals, vitamins, fatty acids, protein, dietary fiber, antioxidants so all can help and raise the immune system against diseases. The main difference in the dates is the type of sugar, as well as the amount of water or moisture contained therein.

MARYAMI (PIAROM)

Maryami date also known as Piarom date is a round date that is widely considered the most delicious of all semi dried date varieties with moisture under %15. The thin skin of this date is dark brown. Since the seed and flesh are tightly attached, it has an attractive appearance which can be rinsed completely. Piarom grows in the city of Hajiabad in Hormozgan province. Harvest Time is around mid September.

RABBI

Rabbi date has soft texture and attractive black color which is reddish black. This date is semi dried with moisture under %15. Rabbi date shape is Long, oval, Linear, juicy and has thin skin with a little seed. The most important areas in production of Rabbi date are Iranshahr and Zabol cities in Sistan Baluchestan province. Harvesting is done at the end of August.

ZAHEDI

Zahedi date is one the dried varieties of date however, in some regions it is known as a semi dried date. It has a yellow gold color to light brown, the Shape is short, oval, thick, elongated and at the end it is quite narrow and sharp. Due to low content of sugar, it is a great alternative for diabetic patients. It has moisture level less than other varieties. It can easily be stored all year long. Zahedi date cultivation occurs in Fars, Bushehr and Khuzestan provinces. It is usually harvested in mid September.

MAZAFATI (KIMIA)

Mazafati date is one of the most famous and delicious varieties of fleshy and fresh dates which is usually used as Rutab and known as the pearl of Persia. Natural soft caramel and chocolate reminder could be a description of the taste of this delicious fruit. It is black with the moisture content between 15 to 35%, depends on the harvesting time and the place where the date grows. Mazafati date production primarily occurs in Kerman and Sistan Baluchestan provinces. It is usually harvested from August to October.

KABKAB

Kabkab date is round in size and the color varies from light brown to dark brown. It is soft in nature with moisture under %18. This variety has a hard skin and the pit is highly-cling to the flesh. It is very delicious, sweet and full of syrup and is among the fleshiest dates in the world. Kabkab date is usually harvested in mid September. Kabkub grows in Fars, Bushehr and Khuzestan provinces.

SAYER (STAMARAN)

Sayer date that known as Stamaran is semi dried date and its moisture is less than 17% so because of this, keeping the date more than one year in a tropical warehouse and without freezing is possible. The date has yellow color but the date fruit at ripening stage has amber color and reddish brown. It is so sweet and has high quality, thin skin and oval shape. Sayer date is grown almost exclusively in Khuzestan province, although it can be grown in most Southern cities of Iran. It is usually harvested in mid September.
